B: The chromatogram of the Assay preparation obtained as directed in theAssayexhibits a major peak for clorsulon, the retention time of which corresponds to that of theStandard preparationobtained as directed in the Assay.
Melting range: Between 197 and 203.
Loss on drying: Dry it in vacuum at 100 for 4hours: It loses not more than 0.5%of its weight.
Clorsulon assay not less than 98. 0percent and not more than 101. 0percent of C8H8Cl3N3O4S2, calculated on the dried basis.
Useage: For the treatment and control of species like gastro-intestinal roundworms, lungworms, liver fluke, eyeworms, warbles, mites and lice of cattle. It is generally administered with Ivermectin.Clorsulon is approved for use in the treatment of immature and adult forms of Fasciola hepatica (Liver fluke) in cattle. It is not effective against immature flukes less than 8 weeks old. It also has activity against Fasciola gigantica. Clorsulon is also not effective against the rumen fluke (Paramphistomum). Clorsulon is considered to be safe to use in pregnant or breeding animals.
